About us

EK Services is an award winning organisation working in partnership with Canterbury City Council, Dover District Council and Thanet District Council to deliver HR, ICT, Customer Services and Revenues & Benefits.

Customer Delivery

We are the operational arm of EK Services. We are Customer-focused and deliver a range of key, front-line services for our partners, on time and within budget.

Our team is organised so that customers get the service they need as close to the point of initial contact as possible and we have dedicated staff to manage customer contacts, deliver service and refer on to our specialists where needed.

Customer Services

The customer-facing aspect of Customer Delivery is managed through our contact centres and face-to-face contact points. As well as providing a fast resolution for our specialist services, we also manage customer contact for a variety of our client Council's services. As well as incoming customer contact, we are also able to provide ad-hoc and dedicated information points and outgoing contacts to promote services for our clients.

Income and Payments (Revenues & Benefits)

Our largest specialist team are the Income and Payments Service who deal with the processing of Housing Benefit and Council Tax Support and the collection of local taxes and other income. This team is made up of two dedicated specialist areas; Income and Payments.

The Income Team is responsible for the billing and collection of Council Tax and Business Rates. It is also responsible for the collection of other debts owed to the Council such as Housing Benefit Overpayments, Harbour Charges and other sundry debts.

The Payments Team is responsible for the administration and processing of Housing Benefit and Council Tax Support cases. This work includes processing new claims for benefits as well as dealing with changes to existing claims.

There are also Operational and Area Support Teams who help us to meet our stringent efficiency targets. Their responsibilities include Income & Payments system support, training, quality assurance, appeals and Discretionary Housing Payments, as well as the investigation of Housing Benefit and Council Tax Support fraud and the visiting officers. There are specialists dedicated to ensure Web content is accurate and up to date (especially within the complex Benefit regulations) – and specialists overseeing projects to promote the integration of Web-enabled and other electronic communications for customers; with the aim of extending the choice and convenience we give to our customers to access services.

Information Communication Technology

The ICT service provides strategic and operational services that play a pivotal part in the growth, health and success of the East Kent Partnership by enabling the delivery of our Partners’ strategic objectives through cohesive, well managed and best value ICT services.

The service is delivered by two key areas, technical systems, business systems.

Technical systems:

This team delivers network infrastructure and services, security governance, server support and data centres management, service delivery comprising service desk and desktop support, and technical architecture services.

Business systems:

This team delivers software support for key line of business systems, Software development and systems integration, GIS, LLPG and Street naming and numbering, and project and programme management services.

Business Support 

We provide administrative support for the Income and Payments teams and also deal with ICT procurement. 

We also have the following corporate responsibilities:

  • Performance reporting
  • PA support for the Management Team
  • Coordination of Business Continuity planning
  • Coordination of the EKS Customer Feedback process 
  • Administrative support for the Time and Absence Management System
  • Maintenance and development of the EKS Intranet pages
  • Risk Register

EK Human Resources

EKHR are a team of HR professionals whose customers are three Kent local authorities and a public sector partner agency. The EK Human Resources' customer base numbers more than 2,000 employees.
